Check

Will my RV converter charge a lithium battery?

Only if its maker lists a lithium (LiFePO4) mode and that mode's charge voltage sits inside the battery maker's charge-voltage range. 7 of the 12 RV converters we list have a lithium mode by their makers' documents maker spec. Data updated .

How the check works

  1. No lithium mode listed by the converter maker: no.
  2. Lithium mode, but either maker leaves the voltage unpublished: works, tight (read both manuals).
  3. Converter's lithium charge voltage inside the battery's published range: works; outside it: no.
  4. Separately, the converter's rated amps must not exceed the battery bank's max charge current.

A converter's lead-acid profile is not a lithium profile, and we don't treat it as one. Changing a converter or its settings is a job for the maker's instructions; see safety.
